Install the hydraulic
system specifically designed to improve safety and efficiency
at the dock!
The HPF-2 is a hydraulic powered,
electrically controlled device used to assist in the preparation,
deployment and retrieval of steel mooring wires. Ships
which regularly transit the St. |

Lawrence Seaway and Welland Canal will find these units
especially useful due to the frequent deployment of their
mooring wires in the locks. |

The HPF-2 Hydraulic Powered Wire
Feeder has three basic modes of operation. In the Pay
Out mode, the HPF-2 is used, in conjunction with the winch,
to feed wire out through the fairlead to the handlers ashore.
In the Heave In mode, the HPF-2 pulls in excess
wire to be flaked out on deck in preparation for docking or
canalling. A third Tension mode has been provided
on the HPF-2, which keeps tension on the wire while it is being
returned to the winch drum. This allows the wire to be wound
up neatly and prevents loose coils on the drum, which may bind
and kink. The Allied Marine & Industrial HPF-2 Hydraulic
Powered Wire Feeder allows the mooring wires to be prepared,
used, and stowed with far less manual handling of the wires.
This allows the ships mooring and canalling procedures
to be carried out with greater safety and fewer people.

Installation costs are dependant upon how much modification
of the ship is required. Estimates will have to be performed
on a ship-by-ship basis. Afterward, very little maintenance
is required on the HPF-2 Hydraulic Powered Wire Feeder. Drive
chains should be greased on a monthly basis, hydraulic oil level
must be monitored, and oil filters changed as required. A differential
pressure indicator is provided on the hydraulic power pack to
which will provide an indication when a filter change is required.
A training program can be provided. Two spare HPF-2 Hydraulic
Powered Wire Feeders are included in a ship set (one forward
and one aft). If a unit fails, it can quickly be replaced by
a spare unit and the defective unit can be sent ashore for repair.
